Chipp recovers after semis loss for third

DES MOINES — It was a good thing the state wrestling meet has changed its format over the years to allow time for wrestlers to get over a semifinal loss.
Hampton-Dumont’s Dalton Chipp needed that time to get his mind right after a devastating come-from-behind 10-6 loss in the Class 2A 195-pound semifinal to wrestle for a pair of victories on Saturday, Feb. 16 and claim the consolation championship.
“My coaches were telling me, my brother and all my coaches were saying, ‘shake it off, that match is over. You’re not wrestling in the state finals, okay, go get the next best thing,’” Chipp said. “So, I did.”
