Chipp goes from unranked to sixth at state

DES MOINES – Even if no one else believed Dalton Chipp could make some noise at the Class 2A state wrestling tournament, he was ready.

The Hampton-Dumont junior 195-pounder won not only his opening match, but his quarterfinal in overtime, securing for himself a place on the podium.

“I felt pretty good the first two matches,” Chipp said. “It felt good, you know, got out, got two wins. The second one was closer than I wanted, but I got it done..."
