With revenue slipping and a new opportunity knocking at his door, Movies America owner Russ Gibson has decided to close the video rental business after 20 years of operation.

“I hate for the video store to close, but when it comes to short notice I really didn’t have time to sell it to someone who could turn it into their own business,” he said.

Carol’s Flower Box will move into Movies America’s current building on Main Street in November. The change comes just one month after Cell Tech, which was next door to the video store and was also owned by Gibson, closed in September. A new hair salon owned by Ashley Harmon will open in that building at the same time Carol’s Flower Box switches to its new location.
