Chamber president Abbas acknowledged for volunteerism

Greater Franklin County Chamber of Commerce President Megan Abbas can trace her reception of the Chamber’s Volunteer of the Year Award back to her youth where as a volunteer for Hampton’s Summerfest.
“I’ve just always had a passion for volunteering and for leading organizations and groups,” she said. “I’ve always had a hand in something and am always trying to stay involved.”
Abbas initially received the award at the Chamber’s Annual Dinner last month but was recognized alongside other recipients throughout the state at the Main Street Iowa Awards Celebration at the Scottish Rite Consistory in Des Moines Friday.
At the celebration over the weekend, Abbas had the opportunity to hear of successes of other chamber of commerce and Main Street committees throughout the state.
