CAL tops Belmond-Klemme to advance to 1A district title

BELMOND – No matter what, Austin Guerrero wanted the ball in his hands for the Class 1A District 5 semifinal game.
He had just pitched a complete game to top Northeast Hamilton only two days before, striking out 11.
Guerrero did the same against Belmond-Klemme and rode a great start by the Cadets’ bats to take a 9-6 win over the Broncos on Thursday, July 16.
“He’s the ace of the team,” CAL coach Ralph Bell said of Guerrero. “He is a true competitor, he wants the ball and he told me after Tuesday’s game against NEH, he came up to me after the game and asked, ‘can I pitch Thursday?’
