CAL survives a tight contest against rival Clarksville

CLARKSVILLE – After the dust had cleared in an Iowa Star boys basketball contest that saw 44 total fouls on players and a technical assessed on each bench, the CAL boys basketball team emerged with a 53-51 victory at Clarksville on Friday, Jan. 6.
It was clear from the first few minutes how this game was being called as the two teams had accumulated 15 fouls before five minutes had passed in the game.
Both teams were in the double bonus with a little less than a minute left in the first quarter.
“We just told the kids, ‘we need to settle down’,” CAL coach Austin Guerrero said about trying to adjust at half to the tight foul calls. “Our game is not that fast-paced and that is what helped them out the whole first half..."
