Refreshed classrooms and a revamped office at the CAL school building don’t change what the school has been able to accomplish in its storied history – they only ensure that those successes will continue.
On Sunday, CAL hosted “A Storied History of CAL Schools,” where alumni, parents and community members could see improvements to the school but also look back memories from the past.
“It’s an opportunity to celebrate everything that’s happened at CAL over the last several years, but then also welcome the future,” said Superintendent Todd Lettow. “There have been a lot of emotions as we have gone through the last year so. As we talk about the future, we talk about how to balance the celebrating that’s going on and the traditions that have been here for so long with the excitement about the future.”
Sunday’s presentation and tours rounded out a weekend full of events dedicated to the memory of the past and the future of CAL. The festivities began Friday afternoon with a viewing of auction items. The auction was composed of school furniture, equipment, sports uniforms and everything in between that have been used at CAL. The CAL Education Foundation hosted its golf outing Saturday morning, raising $4,000 for student scholarships. The auction followed the golf outing Saturday. The school was able to raise $9,000 through the auction, which will be used towards the school’s food and livestock program.
