Bulldogs wake up in time to rally by Garrigan

HAMPTON – Using big-time rebounding and blocked shots, the No. 15-ranked Hampton-Dumont girls basketball team broke out of its slump in time to rally past Algona Garrigan on Friday night, 55-52.

The Class 2A ranked Bulldogs trailed the Golden Bears until 1 minute, 55 seconds left to go in the North Central Conference home game until back-to-back three-pointers by Lexi Sorenson put them ahead for good.

But H-D needed the rebounding and blocks it got from junior Kennedy Wohlford and Paige Wragge to get there first.

“Kennedy played well in the second half,” H-D head coach Chad Johnson said....
