Bulldogs volleyball has busy week

The Hampton–Dumont-CAL Bulldogs volleyball team went 3-2 on the week.

 

The Bulldogs defeated Iowa Falls-Alden in four sets (25-12, 25-19, 22-25, 25-15). during the team’s Senior Night on Oct. 10. The Bulldogs had 38 kills in the win, Aubryee Showalter led the team with 19 kills, Addison Aalbers added six kills, Mallory Rieken had five kills, Charlee Morton and Kenzie Moorehead both added three kills each, and Madison Heilskov had two kills. The team had 33 assists in the game, Aubree Gronewold led the team with 29 assists, Abby Drier added three assists, and Rieken had one assist. The Bulldogs had six blocks as a team, Moorehead, Showalter, and Morton all had two blocks each. The Bulldogs had 12 aces as a team, Showalter led the team with four aces, Drier and Karli Hansen both added three aces each, and Zandrea Erdman had two aces.

 

The Bulldogs then went 2-2 at the Hampton-Dumont-CAL volleyball tournament on Oct. 12. The team defeated Iowa Falls-Alden for a second time in the week, this time in two sets (21-17, 21-13). The Bulldogs also defeated Independence in two sets (21-19, 21-16). The team then lost to Charles City in two sets (17-21, 15-21). The Bulldogs then lost to Ankeny Christian in two sets (18-21, 10-21). The Bulldogs are now 14-10 on the year.

 

In the match against Iowa Falls-Alden, the Bulldogs had 19 kills, Showalter led the team with eight kills, Moorehead and Aalbers both had three kills each, Rieken and Heilskov both added two kills each and Morton had one kill. The team had 18 assists in the game, Gronewold led the team with 10 assists, Heilskov added six assists, and Drier and Shayla Podolan both had one assist each.

 

In the win against Independence, the Bulldogs had 20 kills, Showalter had a team-high 11 kills, Aalbers added three kills, and Rieken and Heilskov and Morton both had two kills each. The Bulldogs had 16 assists in the win, Gronewold led the team with nine assists, Heilskov added four assists, and Drier had three assists. The Bulldogs had five aces as a team, Gronewold led the team with two aces, Drier, Hansen, and Showalter all had one ace each.

 

In the game against Charles City, the team had 16 kills, Showalter and Aalbers led the team with four kills each, Heilskov added three kills, and Rieken and Morton both had two kills, and Moorehead had one kill. The Bulldogs had six blocks in the game, Morton led the team with two blocks, Heilskov, Rieken, and Moorehead all had one block each.

 

In the loss against Ankeny Christian, the team had 15 kills, Showalter led the team with five kills, Rieken and Marren Subber added three kills each, Heilskov and Aalbers both had two kills each. The Bulldogs had 14 assists in the game, Gronewold led the team with 10 assists, Heilskov added three assists and Drier had one assist. The Bulldogs had seven blocks in the game, Morton and Subbert led the way with three blocks each and Aalbers added one block.

 

The Bulldogs’ next game is on the road on Oct. 17. at Algona at 7:30 p.m.
