HAMPTON – The Bulldogs had to have a short-term memory.
Right after experiencing their first loss of the season, the Class 3A No. 7 Hampton-Dumont girls’ basketball team was facing a determined Humboldt squad and a tie ballgame entering the fourth quarter.
From there, junior guard Jessica Speake started taking things into her own hands, driving to the basket and forcing an aggressive Wildcat team to foul her.
From there, she was 9-of-11 at the foul line in the fourth quarter and 11-of-13 in the second half for 23 points as H-D held on for a 64-58 win on Friday, Jan. 22.
