Bulldogs rebound to earn first win

HAMPTON — Hampton-Dumont’s tenacious defense proved to be too much for Fort Dodge St. Edmond as the Bulldogs got their first win of the season, 59-32, over the Gaels on Friday, Nov. 30.
Two bench players came up big, sharing the scoring lead as Calista Polk and Avery Hanson each tallied 16 points.
Both scored eight in each half with Polk banking in a three-pointer just before the first quarter buzzer as H-D led 12-7.
Polk admits she wasn’t aware of the time left when she shot it.
“Not really,” Polk said, “I just heard the crowd yelling, ‘shoot the ball! Shoot the ball!’..."
