Bulldogs ousted from post-season

CENTER POINT – Hampton-Dumont’s volleyball team couldn’t have asked for a better start against Class 3A No. 3 Center Point-Urbana, facing the 27-12 team on the road to start the Region 4 post-season.
Jennie Barkema started things off with a stuff block on the potent Stormin’ Pointer attack and then three straight errors (two hitting, a net violation) had the Bulldogs up 4-0.
CP-U started to get its hitters rolling after that despite six total errors in the first 12 points of the match and it was even until H-D held a 9-7 lead.
That is when the chair referee started calling double hits on Bulldog setter Kaci Arjes: three straight and four out of the next five points with a total of 14 called against H-D during the three-set win by the Stormin’ Pointers in their 25-19, 25-17, 25-12 sweep on Wednesday, Oct. 17.
