HAMPTON – Cesar Baez couldn’t stop smiling even after the game was over.

He hit Hampton-Dumont’s first home run of the season on his first at-bat, launching the second pitch he saw over the center field fence.

And after that, the Bulldogs never trailed in an eventual 11-1, six-inning rout of Belmond-Klemme on Monday, May 26 at home.

“I was surprised, actually,” Baez said. “I didn’t know if I was going to catch up with his fastball..." More on this story was available in the June 4 edition of the Hampton Chronicle.
