HAMPTON – Six weeks of football without a win, Hampton-Dumont waited out an hour-and-10-minute lightning delay to notch its first one, 14-0, over Forest City on Friday, Oct. 6.
A downpour before the game started at 6:30 p.m., a time moved up because of anticipated weather, left the field a quagmire and made footing iffy.
But, backed up to their end zone, the Bulldogs turned what was supposed to be a quarterback sneak by Hunter Sutter into what was called an official 98-yard sprint to the end zone to put H-D up for good.
“He’s good,” H-D head coach Dan Aalbers said. “We were pinned deep and called a quarterback sneak to see if we could get a few yards and set something up but he’s got that speed, split the linebackers and away he went.”
