Bulldogs’ coach celebrates birthday as team sweeps GHV

HAMPTON – A huge first-set rally sparked a Bulldog sweep on Tuesday, Sept. 26 and an after-match celebration for coach Kelli Showalter, making it a birthday party at Hampton.

Her team started out slow, trailing by 11 and as much as 12 (16-4) in the opener, forcing the second-year coach to call timeout twice.

“I just told them that they needed to do what we practiced,” Showalter said of the two early stoppages. “All we practice right now is serve and serve receive because that’s what starts everything off and they know how to pass..."
