Bulldog Boys Soccer Starts Season Strong, Girls Continue Growth

The Hampton-Dumont-CAL soccer program has been trending up the past few seasons. The girls program is starting to see a lot of growth as girls find their way to the field in the spring. The boys program under Coach Danielle Arana has made huge strides and has raised the level of expectations each and every season. The boys are living up to those expectations at the beginning of the 2023 season by starting out red hot.
The Bulldog girls soccer team traveled down to Iowa Falls for a rivalry match-up with the Cadets. The Cadets made short work of the short handed Bulldogs though, scoring six goals in the first half and then adding four more in the second half. The Cadets prevailed 10-0 to improve to 2-0 on the season. The Bulldogs fell to 1-2, on the showing and on account of missing players due to dual sport athletes that also run track.
The Bulldog boys looked to break a two match losing streak to the Cadets and continued the hot streak they have been on this season by scoring five goals in the first half and jumping out to a 5-0 lead at the break. The Bulldogs and Cadets added a goal each in the second half with the Bulldogs propelled on to earn a 6-1 victory in the rivalry game. The win improved the Bulldogs record to 3-0 on the season. Bryan Vazquez led the boys with two goals while Alexis Hernandez added two assists and a goal of his own and Luis Mota had two assists. Jose Aragon logged four saves in goal for the Bulldogs.
The Bulldog girls’ soccer team returned to action with a home game against the Garner-Hayfield-Ventura Cardinals Monday, with the boys traveling to Garner for their match-up with the Cardinals Monday. Thursday, the girls and boys will host Webster City in a North Central Conference matchup with the Lynx.
