The two candidates for the Hampton mayor's seat took their respective cases to the people on Oct. 17 during a city council and mayoral candidate debate sponsored by the Hampton Chronicle.

Brook Boehmler and Diane Weldin were present for the forum as was current City Council Member Dick Lukensmeyer, who is running uncontested for the at-large city council seat. Two other city council candidates – Jim Davies, seeking re-election to his Ward 2 seat – and Jay Hickman, running uncontested for the Ward 4 seat being vacated by Craig Eckhardt – were not present at the forum.

After Lukensmeyer spoke briefly about himself and his vision for Hampton, Boehmler and Weldin took the podium for the remaining 50 minutes of the forum.
