Beaten up, not beaten: H-D catcher helps Bulldogs beat Osage

HAMPTON – A big welt was forming over her right eye, but a big smile was on Paige Springer’s face as Hampton-Dumont held on for an 8-7 win over the Osage softball team on Tuesday, June 5.
The senior-to-be catcher certainly was knocked around behind the plate, however, she came up with the game-winning RBI and made the game-ending assist to battery mate Avery Hanson at the plate to preserve the victory.
Asked how she was feeling after it was all over, Springer was succinct about being hit in the face with the ball on a play in the third inning that momentarily gave the Green Devils the lead.
