FORT DODGE – When Hampton-Dumont’s Patty Teggatz awakened Saturday morning for her last cross country meet of her career, she knew this was her last hurrah.
The Bulldog senior closed out her cross country season and history with her best state finish in three tries, crossing the finish line in 36th place at 20 minutes, 50.1 seconds in the Class 2A field.
“It’s unbelievable,” Teggatz said. “I woke up this morning and I thought to myself, ‘this is it, this is the last cross country race I’ll ever run in a Hampton-Dumont uniform.’ It’s sad, but also, I’m happy about it because I know running at Hampton-Dumont started my running career.”
