Area officials look forward to year ahead

The turning of the calendar is an appropriate time to reflect on the successes from the year before and look forward to the year ahead. Each new year comes with a new set of challenges and a replenished bank of hope and optimism.
That’s no different for community officials. Local governmental and educational representatives of the area provided what they see as high points from 2017, reasons to be excited about 2018 and things people should expect to see in the year ahead.
Brook Boehmler, Hampton Mayor
Boehmler said the City of Hampton had reason to celebrate in 2017. A major accomplishment, he said, was the reconstruction of 12 blocks of streets and crosswalks in the downtown area. He said the city also reach high achievements financially.
“We passed a reallocation of local options sales tax dollars that continues to provide the community a strong resource for the future,” he said. “We are financially sound going into the coming years.”
