With the corn knee high by the Fourth of July, this year’s area crops are well on their way to bring in high yields.
“Everything looks really good for the most part,” said Mark Bausch, agronomist with North Iowa Cooperative in Thornton. “I think we’ve got potential for a really good crop in this area.”
With crops mostly planted by the first week of May, the corn and beans will have plenty of time to grow this year, increasing potential for greater yields.
“I think this could be one of our better years if everything works out right,” said Bausch.
