This year's Independence Day could be more explosive than most.
Earlier this year the state legislature passed a law that would make firework sales legal in Iowa for the first time in nearly eight decades. However strict rules and regulations still apply. While firework sales are legal, they aren't legal all the time. Instead, the state has designated specific windows for legal sale, the first of which began on Thursday, June 1.
Two windows of sale were designated in the legislation, effectively allowing the sale of fireworks around the two holidays where firework use is most prevalent, Independence Day and New Year's.
The entire story appears in the June 7 print and online editions of the Hampton Chronicle.
