ACKLEY – Belmond-Klemme’s zone left Luke Starr open just enough for the AGWSR sophomore to make shot after shot, especially in the first half, of the Cougars’ 61-48 victory over the Broncos on Thursday, Jan. 25.
Starr scored 19 of his 25 points to lead the way as coach Russ Banzhaf’s team improved to 7-10 overall.
“He kept us in the ball game,” Banzhaf said of Starr. “He had a great first half. He was feeling it and we did a good job of finding him and, you know, Belmond-Klemme played very inspired basketball.
“They gave us all we wanted and we hit some free throws down the stretch.”
