ACKLEY — A break-out third quarter for AGWSR in which the Cougars turned Hampton-Dumont over for 10 points helped them to a 62-44 season-opening victory on Tuesday, Nov. 27.
Alex Hames emerged with 30 points, scoring all of those points off the turnovers and the defensive pressure for a break-out game against the Bulldogs.
“That really picked up our intensity,” AGWSR coach Russ Banzhaf said. “Third quarter, we played really well and we threw that press on them, center-middle (of the court), got some turnovers and really fed off that and sometimes defense gets you offense and that was the case tonight.”
