AGWSR belts two homers in Class 1A semi win

FORT DODGE – AGWSR freshman MaKenna Kuper watched strike two go by in her first at-bat and knew she had to make up for falling behind.
So, she belted her 10th home run of the season off of starting pitcher Megan Meinen to put the Cougars ahead for good in the Class 1A state semifinal 12-5 win over Akron-Westfield on Wednesday, July 18.
 The confidence was there for Kuper, who was 3-for-3 with two walks, the last an intentional pass as she was looking to hit for the cycle (only a triple shy).
“When I first saw the two strikes go by, I was like, ‘uh oh, dug myself a hole here, better get myself out of it,’” Kuper said...
