Following through on compliance with federal and state regulations, Access, Inc. has announced that its assisted living complex, The Meadows, will be closing on July 31, 2018.
The Meadows, Hampton, is a 12-bed residential facility currently servicing Access’ clients with mental disabilities by providing them residences, individual and group services, according to Access, Inc. Executive Director Jenny Backer. In accordance with federal regulations that came into effect in March 2014, states across the country have passed down legislation for mental health care facilities to close their segregated programs in favor of more community-oriented, integrated programs, in order to receive Medicaid funding.
According to the Iowa Home and Community-Based Services Settings Statewide Transition Plan, the purpose of these regulations is “to ensure that individuals receive Medicaid Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) in settings that are integrated in and support full access to the greater community.”
Last year, Access, Inc. closed its sheltered workshop program, which provided work in the form of small tasks for its clients for a small hourly rate, to comply with federal regulations.
