Two Franklin County organizations recently benefited from a special program aimed at beautifying communities across the state.
The Greater Franklin County Chamber of Commerce and Geneva Community Betterment (GCB) landed grants to help with two projects in Hampton and Geneva. The Chamber will use the award for its new Alley Art program, while GCB will use it to help with ongoing restorations at the old school auditorium.
“This will help get the Alley Art initiative rolling,” said Newton Grotzinger, Chamber executive director. “I’m hoping it’s something that brings a little color downtown.”
The grants were awarded by Paint Iowa Beautiful, a collaboration between Diamond Vogel Paint and Keep Iowa Beautiful that provides paint vouchers for beautification projects in Iowa. The Chamber and GCB received vouchers for six and 10 gallons of paint, respectively.
