Not much could keep Rob Ubben from greeting campers at Beeds Lake with a smile and a friendly joke or two.
Despite cancer treatments and other sicknesses, it was virtually impossible to keep him from his post, which he proudly occupied alongside his wife, Rosemary (Rosey), for the last decade.
“He was a people person,” said Rosemary. “He was just always that way.”
Rob passed away on Sept. 27 at the age of 71 but the impact he made on Beeds Lake during his time can still be seen and will most certainly be felt for years to come.
Rob and Rosemary became the campground hosts 10 years ago when then park ranger Terry Manning asked them to help out. The Ubbens had camped at the park once in a while, but Beeds Lake immediately became a second home.
